Jens Ludwig is McCormick Foundation Professor in the Harris School of Public Policy and the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. He also serves as director of the University of Chicago Crime Lab and co-director of the University of Chicago Urban Education Lab. He is a non-resident senior fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institution, research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), and co-director of the NBER's working group on the economics of crime. His research focuses on social policy, particularly in the areas of urban poverty, crime, and education.
The University of Chicago Crime Lab partners with policy-makers and community leaders to develop evidence-based, cost-effective strategies for reducing violence and crime. In 2014, the Crime Lab received the MacArthur Foundation Award for Creative and Effective Institutions.
