Our Partnership
KAM Isaiah Israel and Shir Tikvah share a commitment to Chicago’s greater South Side. Our two congregations are sharing costs and sharing space in order to build bridges between our communities and to amplify our commitment to social justice.

Our Scholar
Rabbi Joel Mosbacher has served as the senior rabbi of Manhattan’s Temple Shaaray Tefila since 2016. Rabbi Mosbacher holds a Doctorate of Ministry from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, from which he was ordained in 1998. He is a national leader of the Gun Safety Consortium, bringing together faith leaders, gun designers, and law enforcement agencies to find common cause in reducing gun violence.

Prior to joining Shaaray Tefila, Rabbi Mosbacher served as rabbi of Beth Haverim Shir Shalom in Mahwah, New Jersey for 15 years. (Rabbi Kirzane had the privilege of serving as the assistant rabbi of this congregation with Rabbi Mosbacher for one year following his ordination.)

Rabbi Mosbacher grew up at Congregation Beth Sholom, one of Shir Tikvah’s parent communities. He and his wife Elyssa have two children, Ari and Lili.
