Vision: KAM Isaiah Israel strives to be a transformative Reform Jewish community.
Mission: Through intentional inclusion, KAM Isaiah Israel’s congregational family builds and strengthens our Jewish community through engaged worship, enlightened lifelong learning, and impactful social justice work.
Values: KAM Isaiah Israel affirms our commitment to being a pillar of the Reform Jewish community. We work to eliminate barriers so that all who seek to be part of our diverse, dynamic Jewish community are fully included in our congregational family. We work to ensure that our community is a safe, inviting, and inspirational place where all members of our family are able to pray, learn, celebrate, and connect ‐ today and into the future ‐ with a focus on:
קהילה- K’hilah – Community
בצלם אלוהים -B’tzelem Elohim – Inclusivity
לימוד- Limud ‐ Learning
תפילה -T’filah – Prayer
צדקה -Tz’dakah – Philanthropy
תיקון עולם- Tikkun Olam – Repairing the World
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement
Prepared by the DEI Task Force
One of our six guiding synagogue values is b’tzelem elohim/inclusivity. The core of this value is that all of humanity is created in the divine image. All reflect the divine – regardless of race, religion, gender identity, sexual preference, physical ability, economic situation, political persuasion, or other perceived differences. As there is one divine in the universe, so too is there one humanity on earth, all of whom have inherent worth.
Our synagogue will be a welcoming community at which people do not experience othering. We acknowledge that we do not currently live in the community that we are envisioning, but that we will work to transform our community so that it will become so. Priorities need to be established because the work to do is vast, and we have decided to prioritize anti-racism as the first initiative in this effort. As that area experiences success, other areas will be addressed.
